Dr. Sara Hooge
Dr. Sara Hooge received her B.S. degree and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2004. After graduation, she received a position as a mixed animal practitioner in Worthington, MN, where she practiced for over 14 years. During that time she developed into the lead small animal veterinarian, performing surgery, routine health exams, and being a patient advocate for her clients. Dr. Hooge also practiced veterinary medicine in dairy health and production, swine and beef management, large animal surgery, general equine medicine, poultry medicine and small ruminant medicine.
For the last 5 years, Dr. Hooge has practiced integrative and complementary medicine to improve veterinary care for her patients. Her passion is to integrate western and eastern medicine to provide optimal and individualized care to meet client and patient needs. She has been educated by the Chi institute in acupuncture and herbal treatments.
Dr. Hooge has recently relocated to the Brainerd/Baxter area and is providing acupuncture and herbal care as a contract employee into veterinary clinics in the Brainerd Lakes area, provide in home care for pets and on farm care for equine and cattle. She also contracts out for relief work to support veterinary clinics.
In Her Spare Time
In her spare time, Dr. Hooge enjoys outdoor adventure with her husband, Jesse and four boys, Jakeb, Christian, Joshua and Caleb, plus her rescue dog, Hope, and her cat, Mercy. She also enjoys running, biking, boating, and fellowship with family and friends. Her passions are to serve her patients, clients, family, friends and Christ each day and provide hope and encouragement.
