What is

Animal Acupuncture?

Acupuncture uses small needles inserted in specific points of the body.  These acupuncture points commonly contain many nerves and are rich in blood supply.  These points primary work by using the nervous system. Acupuncture is about making the body more efficient and effective by stimulating nerves, circulation, stimulating or calming the nervous system and improving the immune system to heal. The nerve bundles at the acupuncture sites are stimulated when an acupuncture needle is placed and neurochemicals are released.  These neurochemicals work in the body to act on the central nervous system to allow the nervous system to work correctly, or be balanced. Acupuncture also stimulates the body’s release of endorphins, which are hormones that decrease pain and inflammation. The goal of acupuncture is to stimulate the nervous system to help the body balance itself and heal. The whole body can be treated with acupuncture because the nervous system is part of regulating all the organ systems of the body.
